I have known Bernadette from our late teens to date. We used to meet during the summer school vacations during the students gathering. However, our proper encounter came when we were on a summer job at the National Agricultural Research Institute where we worked for 3 months. I found Bernadette to be a very intelligent, warm, honest, empathetic, caring person. Her infectious smile and laughter make everyone around her feel reassured and contained. This is what made our relationships lasting over 35 years. Bernadette is very thoughtful; friendly; patient; altruistic; easy going and, all these qualities accompanied by her indefectible and strong faith make her being loved by everyone she approaches.
Despite having been through lots of adversities in her personal life, Bernadette has always kept her sense and love of humanity. I will never forget when Bernadette learned about mine and my two children’s whereabouts, she, her 2 children, and her then-boyfriend, now-husband came to see us in another country. The tears we shed were for me a sign of relief from the loss and separation we both have experienced as we had lost touch for over 17 years and the joy for our own survival and children’s survival. Since then, we have never departed from each other. We are not deterred by the long distance and the difference of time between us, we have been in constant contact over the phone and visit as and when our working schedules permit.
Bernadette is an inspiring and achieving person whom everyone should emulate.
As a professional working mother in my late 50s, I have come to realize that the tight rope I was walking on is becoming rather wobbly, increasingly I felt stuck in my life due to my children leaving the nest. Sharing such feelings with Bernadette made me regain a clear focus on my working life direction, passion for my children, and also exploring to best fit the passion for my kids with the need for RM time.
Bernadette is a very good listener, tactful, charismatic, non-judgmental, eager to lend a hand, and help you to rediscover yourself in many ways and capacities.
